You all know the saying “April showers bring May flowers,” right? But where exactly did it come from? Some attribute the saying to an 1157 poem by Thomas Trusser, while others cite Chaucer and Sara Coleridge as progenitors of the famous line. There are numerous poems on the months of the year and what each season brings, but all we know here at Birdsong is that it’s coming up roses with “In Bloom” IPA, our latest IPA series release coming out this THURSty THURSday.
Bright and floral, “In Bloom” boasts an abundance of Loral, Centennial and Azacca hops for an aromatic “bouquet” on the nose and a hint of tropical citrus on the palate. Close your eyes and imagine walking through a field of sunshine and wildflowers because that’s more or less what drinking this beer feels like. It could be storming outside, but you’ll always have your own sweet reverie at Birdsong (or in your house if you buy a 4pk… that’s an option, too).
If IPAs aren’t your style, don’t worry because we’ve got tons of beers on tap that appeal to all sorts of drinkers! Have a “Tiny Dancer” Table Beer while drawing the guys from Don Telling’s Island Mysteries tomorrow night as the Go Figure Drawing Class goes live in the tap room! Or, you can sip on a “Clustershuck” Oyster Stout this Sunday for Open Streets 704. We’ll have Rappahannock Oysters out again for a special one-time raw bar from 3-5pm!
Smells like Flowers: “In Bloom” was the 4th single from Nirvana’s Nevermind album, the same album that hosted songs “Smells like Teen Spirit” and “Come As You Are.” While it was their second album, the anthem “Smells like Teen Spirit” catapulted the band’s success. They are noted as 27th on a list of 100 greatest bands/artists of all time.
