As a mid-size distributing brewery, we consume a large amount of power for HVAC, walk-in coolers, glycol chillers, air compressors, etc. So in 2018, we installed a 75 kilowatt solar array on our roof! Our goal was to cut our power bill by 40%. So far, we’ve been successful. On top of that we’ve reduced carbon emissions substantially. It’s the equivalent of planting over 7,000 trees, project to date.
Pollinator gardens are vital green spaces, curated with specific plants and flowers to support pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.
These gardens offer crucial resources such as nectar, pollen, and shelter, essential for the survival of these creatures.
With pollinator populations declining drastically in recent years, these gardens play a pivotal role in conservation efforts.
For instance, the Monarch butterfly is now endangered, with populations plummeting by up to 90%, while honeybee numbers decline by 50% annually.
By cultivating pollinator gardens, we can contribute to the restoration of habitats and the preservation of these essential species.
Here at Birdsong, we're fortunate to have an individual on our team who is passionate about keeping our pollinator garden thriving! Meet Stefan (pictured in the slideshow to the right), the caretaker of our garden and a member of our distribution team.
